NEWS: Ore to host new Saturday night show ‘And They’re Off for Sport Relief’
For someone who grew up with an unhealthy appetite for Saturday night TV, to be hosting And They’re Off for Sport Relief really is a dream come true. This series is going to be such a laugh from start to finish and we hope it’ll inspire everyone at home to get behind Sport Relief once again and raise some big money for the people that need it the most.
We’ve signed up a load of famous faces from the worlds of sport and entertainment, including Michael Owen, Mike Tindall, Stacey Solomon, Frankie Bridge and Russell Kane to name a few. For the cause they’ve put their reputations to one side to take part in fun – and unpredictable – obstacle courses, including running through mud and hurtling down giant water slides!
Meanwhile members of the public and I get to play along from the safety of the studio with our contestants needing to correctly predict which celebrity will triumph during each race in order to win an experience of a lifetime. It’s silly, slapstick, but there’s a real competition at the heart of it and with a lot at stake.
And most importantly it’s all part of the brand new Sport Relief campaign for 2018 when we’ll once again be trying to raise as much money for communities who need it here in the UK and in some of the world’s poorest countries. I’ve seen first-hand the difference that money makes, and I know the British public will help change lives again.
A couple of years ago I was honoured to be part of the Hell on High Seas challenge that raised over £1million. In 2018, my feet will be much more firmly on the ground for And They’re Off for Sport Relief… Sure I’ll miss the nausea (!) but, genuinely, I can’t think of a more fitting way to champion another amazing campaign!
And They’re Off for Sport Relief airs on BBC1 from Saturday 6th January 2018, exact scheduling to be announced. For more information, click here.
